How should you feel when someone copies you?
Product, service or marketing copycats? It’s an issue that comes up frequently in business and can cause mixed feelings from frustration to flattery. But how should a business react when their core products and marketing approaches are outright replicated by a competitor. The key is not to make rash decisions. Regroup and analyse your tools for defence and attack – which could include NPD, pricing strategy, tactical comms, branding or market segmentation.
And take heart, you know you are doing a great job when you’ve got product, service or marketing copycats. It means you’re ahead of the game (and the competition), you’re shaping and making the market and you really are the market leader.
